Is the data privacy compliant?

Yes. The data you receive is non-personalised which means you receive the company’s name, address, phone number, fax number and an email address where available.

Will I receive the data in Excel?

Yes. The data you receive arrives in Excel format, which means you can easily open the file in Excel. Full instructions of how to use your data are provided when your data is shipped.

How long will it take to process my order?

Your sales leads will available for download moments after your payment has been confirmed, it’s a fully automated web based system. Very large orders may take a bit longer.

Is your site secure?

Yes, we use Securepay and an SSL 40bit encryption via a Commonwealth Bank merchant facility which means you credit card information is secure. We also never store credit card information.

What will my list look like?

You will receive your list as ax excel file (.xls). When you receive your data, save it to your computer, open excel and then open the file. For a sample layout of the file you will receive, click here.

How much does a list cost?

Mailing Lists Online have significantly reduced the cost of data abolishing costly setup and selection fees that most other list suppliers usually charge, therefore making it affordable for small business owners.

We charge a flat fee of ONLY 3 CENTS PER LIST RECORD with a minimum purchase per order of $29.95. So you can get 1000 List records for only $30, 10,000 List records for $300 and so on.

Are volume discounts available?

We supply you with large volume data at a low fee, which is already discounted against what you will pay elsewhere.

How do I save the data to my computer?

When you have completed the purchase, you will be promoted to download your list – just click on the link and Save As - it will be download to your computer. You can then open the file in Excel. If you click on Open File – this will open the file but won’t be saved onto your computer and you may loose the data.

What if I need to cancel my order or obtain a refund?

You may cancel your order at any stage up until your payment has been processed. Once payment has been processed and your database has been accessed we are unable to accept returned data.

Can I choose the file type the data is sent in?

The data is automatically shipped as an Excel file which is easily opened if you have Microsoft Excel. If you don’t have Microsoft Excel, you can use a substitute – Google offer a free online spreadsheet at docs.google.com.

I would like to test a sample file before purchasing

A sample record view is available on the website, however the purpose of these records is provide you with a sample layout of the data, not to provide you with actual business records. Click here to view sample data layout.

NB: 100 or 200 records is not an adequate sample size for testing purposes to reflect the strength of our database, your product, offering or choice of target audience (industry).

How many times can I use the data?

We believe that small businesses need more then one go to really capture their future customers. So for one year from the date of your purchase, you have unlimited re-use of your data.

Is the data available for unlimited usage?

Yes! For twelve (12) months from your date of purchase you may use the data as many times as you like for mailing, telemarketing, emailing or faxing purposes.

I can’t find my industry.

Mailing Lists Online uses ANZSIC Codes which offers data across 16 major industry categories in Australia. These are further broken down into 36 sub-industries.

The major industry pages list the sub-categories available to you. However, a full listing of categories can be sourced from the ANZSIC Code listing.

You may add as many industries as you wish through the Industry Tab section. Please see graphic below for information on how to add multiple industries. You can easily do it by holding down your left mouse button and scrolling over the industries you are interested in or you can select multiple items by holding down the CTRL key while left mouse clicking on the industries you are interested in.

What do I do if someone complains about receiving marketing material from me?

Firstly, privacy laws are not applicable to non-personalised business data. It is the ‘identifier’ such as a person’s name which is covered by Privacy and SPAM Acts.

It is, however, in your best interest to pacify any person who contacts you to complain!

Simply take their details – as it appeared on the marketing piece they received from you, and mark it in your database so you know not to contact them again.

If you delete the record from your database, when you receive updates or perhaps obtain their details through another channel, you may accidentally contact them again without knowing.

It is therefore important that you ‘suppress’ or flag / mark the details in a field in your database rather then delete them.

We understand with small business that money spent on every lead is an investment, and we strive to increase your return on investment by reducing your data cost and also providing extension tools, tips, guides, checklists and information to assist you in delivering a successful campaign.

In order to test the quality of data, a minimum of 5,000, often 10,000 records is considered reasonable to reflect active leads. Smaller tests such as 100 leads may by chance just happen to reach the entire 100 undeliverable records!

If you have received more then 20% undeliverable dead letters from Australia Post from a mailing of 10,000 or greater, please use our support form to contact us. Please note that telemarketing data has no guarantee.

Do you accept direct deposit?

No, however we plan on accepting PayPal in the future.

AMEX is accepted through the Mailing Lists site, however Diners Club is not available.

What is a per 1,000 rate for data?

Non-personalised business-to-business business address data is typically charged around 10-20 cents per record in Australia. Our pricing model makes data affordable for small business owners at just 3 cents per record and includes all available information such as Business Name, Address, Phone, Fax, Email, Website and Industry Category details where available.

Is the data deduplicated?

Data is not deduplicated on our system. For example a company may be operating in two separate Industries however this isn’t expected to occur very often.

Will I receive the same business in the database more then once?

It is unlikely you will receive the same list record in the database more than once. There may be occasions when a company is listed across two or more industries.

I want to buy overseas business data.

We currently don’t provide access to international data.

Your data should be available seconds after your purchase has been confirmed. If you have not received your data for any reason, please try to login to the website with your username and password (use the lost password feature if you have forgotten your password)

The download files contain unique records which means we have already excluded companies that may have been listed in more then one sub-industry. This saves you time and money to ensure you only contact businesses once per campaign.

How accurate is the data I’m purchasing?

This data is sourced from a variety of directories and other publicly available information. Businesses move, merge and close down everyday of the year, so you will never find a database that is 100% accurate, as they are out of date the day they are released! This file is fully updated and overhauled every six months and you can purchase an updated version of your file at 50% of its cost every six months.

How do I receive the data?

Once your payment has been processed, you will be prompted to download an Excel file that contains your data.

Mailing Lists Online is a database of non-personalised businesses Australia wide. You receive the business name, address, phone, fax number and possibly email addresses. You can easily insert your own personalised title in the data spreadsheet, such as IT Manager, General Manager, or Marketing Manager.

How many times can I use the data?

We don’t believe one campaign is going to grow your business, so we give you permission to use the database as often as you like for 12 months from the date of purchase. Updated data is released every six months and may be purchased at 50% of the current price.

Are there any restrictions?

There are no restrictions on how often you use the data over the next 12 months, however you may not use the data to create a competing product, directory, or on-sell to other individuals or companies. Our terms and conditions clearly outline all restrictions and should be read before accepting.

How do I update my data?

Mailing Lists Online may contact you again 6 months after your data purchase to see if you would like an updated database at only 50% of it’s price on your six month anniversary.

Do I need to submit a sample mail piece?

No. This database has been compiled from directory sources for the purposes of direct marketing, so therefore there will be no conflict on interest with the list owner.

This data is sourced from a variety of publicly available information and is correct at the time of compilation. Businesses continue to move, merge or close down each year so there will be a certain amount of dead letters or disconnected phone numbers. The cost to telemarket and continually verify these records on an ongoing basis is too great, so instead, we fully update and overhaul the database every six months, which enables us to also offer you the database at an affordable price. As such, we do not replace any bad records, rather provide you with the entire file so you can continue to find more prospects. Depending on your industry sometimes as little at 3% or as great as 20% will be returned as undeliverable due to problems unrelated to the data collection process.

Privacy Compliance – What do I do if someone asks to be removed from the list?

You must ask for the company name, address, phone and / or fax number, AS IT APPEARED on the marketing piece they received from you. This is important because there may be spelling or other errors which has meant that they received the letter from yourself when they had previously asked to be removed.

Of course! We recommend the easiest way is to using the “mail merge” function in your word processor.

How will you know if I use the list for a directory or pass it onto another company to ‘borrow’?

List data that is provided may contain a Seed Name. It allows us to track your campaigns and usage of the data and use as evidence in court should a usage dispute arise. We record the campaign pieces we receive on your file, so we know if another company has used it illegally, in violation of your terms and conditions.
